One of the tough South Africans so good for harsh Australian conditions. It is frost and drought hardy.
Chamelaeagnea is a hardy evergreen which can grow to 2m. The attractive foliage is a light green. It will sucker gently around its base in time. These can be removed for new plants if wanted. Otherwise cuttings can be used for new plants. It hasn’t set a lot of seed for me.
Chamelaeagnea makes a great hedge at 75cm intervals.
The flower has a purple hood and a white bottom lip. Flowering time begins in summer and goes on for about 6 months.
African Sky could be used in a similar situation and has similar qualities.
