Hierosolymitana is one of the base foliage type which puts up long flowering stems in spring from evergreen foliage. The flower is an unusual wine colour. It is similar to viscosa. The seed is large and different to viscosa but the latter seeds readily and survives almost to weed status. Hierosolymitana is not so easy to come by, especially if it has been grown away from any crossing with viscosa.
The flowers are much larger than viscosa’s but otherwise similar colour and similar plant. .
