I like this plant from the high Andes in Ecuador. It has shiny evergreen foliage and scarlet flowers. There are dark hairs on the stems near the flowers which add to its attraction.  It can be mat forming when it is happy.

Hirtella grows about 60cm high and will tolerate mild frost.  Not really a plant for drought.    It grows readily from cuttings or rooted pieces.
