Spathacea is a lovely Californian for a dryish spot, possibly a little shade. I used to have trouble establishing this plant so maybe it is not for beginners. I don’t think it would be good for humidity.
Spathacea has the most wonderfully fragrant foliage with a citrus smell. It is a hardy evergreen, usually fairly low, but if it was especially happy might reach a metre.
There are some colour variations, yellow etc but I have never got them going in my garden. After a year or so from seed they die off, no doubt to do with water.
Spathacea is not well known in Australia. It is out of stock as at the end of April 2022 but I have planted more and expect it to be ready by spring or maybe earlier.
