Viscosa is a middle eastern plant from around Lebanon direction. It is very similar to hierosolymitana although the latter is superior with larger spikes and flowers, also in that burgundy shade. Both plants set a lot of seed. I think if they are grown in the same place they cross pollinate to hierosolymitana‘s detriment.
In winter viscosa has flat basal foliage but come spring it increases its leaves and sends out a 50cm spike which will have branches of flowers. It is very drought and frost hardy.
